Waterfall quest

Starts with Almera near the Baxtorian Falls.

Before you start

Waterfall Quest has no requirements whatsoever and pays 13,750 Attack and 13,750 Strength XP. On a fresh account that is roughly 30 Attack and 30 Strength for a quest you can start on your first day, which makes it the single most efficient early quest on the board - and the reason experienced players rush it before they train melee at all.

The opening is a river run rather than a fight. Almera near the Baxtorian Falls asks you to check on her son; you board the raft, find Hudon downstream, and then work your way along the cliff with a rope - first onto the rock, then onto the dead tree - before riding a barrel the rest of the way. None of this is combat, but all of it is sequenced, so follow the steps in order rather than exploring ahead.

The middle is a research detour with two separate keys. Read the 'Book on baxtorian' in the large building near the falls to learn what you are actually looking for, then travel to the dungeon at the end of the Tree Gnome Village maze. A crate near the entrance holds a key, and behind the locked door is Golrie, who tells you about Glarial and gives you the pebble that opens her tomb.

Glarial's tomb is the classic trap in this quest. The step is explicit: go to Glarial's Tombstone east of the waterfall, use the pebble on it, and carry nothing else with you. Bring anything extra and you will not get in. Inside, the chests hold Glarial's amulet and the crates hold Glarial's urn - take both, then leave and re-equip your gear.

The endgame is a puzzle room behind the waterfall. Wear Glarial's amulet to open the door, search the crates for another key, and get into the locked room. Each pillar needs one air, one water and one earth rune, so bring a comfortable stack of all three. Then click the amulet on the statue and use Glarial's urn on the chalice - and the whole reward lands at once.

Worth knowing
  • Do this quest early. With no requirements and 27,500 combined Attack and Strength XP, it is worth more to a level 3 account than to a level 70 one.
  • Bring a rope - you need it for both the rock and the dead tree - and a spare stack of air, water and earth runes for the pillars.
  • Empty your inventory completely before using the pebble on Glarial's Tombstone. The step says 'do not carry any other items' and it means it.
  • The tomb and the waterfall vault are two separate key hunts. Search every crate you pass rather than backtracking later.
